13. The Myungdong Cathedral

       July. 3, 2003

On the Jonghyun hill near the Myungnye-Bang,

The Gothic Cathedral was built In 1898.

Whenever I happen to see the belfry of it,

I used to be in a penny for my thought.

Having finger's sign of the cross,

Doing the successio apostolica,

Saying mass,

And making confessing,

Those are the Catholic Characters.

The Prince Sohyun of the old Korea,

kept in touch with the Roman Catholic first,

But it has spread all over by Lee Seunghoon in 1784.

It has ten-thousand Martyrs,

Who was sacrificed as bits of straw,

And Father KimDaegeon who was kicked the bucket,

From his grandfather over the three generations.

They are the messengers and canaries in the Korean Catholic.

They'd keep Jesus Christ Propping up in their mind,

Who brought Him to the place Golgotha,

Taking up his cross on his back.

What was the old keeping closing a country for?

The old government got the wrong belief,

Which it serves only the God instead of the king and parents,

Leveling the lower classes and the humble with the upper.

Thinking about 100-year persecution,

Before the Korea-French treaty,

And the old father's dress, so called the gown of a fairy,

in the black, a bamboo hat, with a fan,

I'm proud of them,

In the baptism of blood in the Catacombs,

Over 300-year period,

And their supper human believes.

The Democratic DaeHanMinGug!

Which practice has made perfect for 59 years,

Since 1945-liberation from Japan.

Omnia in omnibus!

So that is the reason,

It is admired too other churchly, looking up,

And holding their steps by the Seoulite.
